Sip, Stroll & Shop at the Fredericksburg Art Show This Weekend
The Texas Mesquite & Fine Art Spectacular is happening right now at the Fredericksburg Marktplatz, and it runs through Sunday, October 11. Admission is free, dogs are welcome, and it is one of the easiest ways to spend a fall morning in town.
For more than 30 years, this show has brought hand-selected artists from across several states to Main Street. Think mesquite furniture and woodturning, fused glass, sterling jewelry, pottery, gourd art, and Hill Country oil paintings. Most of the artists are right there in their booths, happy to tell you how each piece was made.
Here is how we would spend the day.
Day | Hours |
Friday, October 9 | 12 pm – 6 pm |
Saturday, October 10 | 10 am – 6 pm |
Sunday, October 11 | 10 am – 3 pm |

First stop: grab a coffee and a sweet
Start at the Hitchman Homestead chuck wagon, parked on the lawn with its red-checked skirt, wagon wheels and lanterns. You can't miss it.
The menu covers breakfast tacos, cowboy biscuits, muffins, coffee cake and a full "fancy coffee" board, plus lemonade and tea in big glass jars. Lunch and sides like chili and potato salad are there when you need a second round. I highly recommend the Cowboy Mocha and the Cowboy Cookie! Order at the window, pay by card or scan to Venmo, and take your coffee for a stroll.
Stroll the Fredericksburg art show and meet the artists
The show spreads across the open-air booths on the Marktplatz lawn and under the big covered pavilion, so there is shade when the afternoon sun kicks in. Live music plays while you browse, so take your time and enjoy the atmosphere.
The best part is the conversation. Artists sit in their booths, explain their process and share the stories behind their work. Ask how a gourd becomes a carved bowl, or how a slab of slate becomes a rooster. You will walk away knowing exactly who made what you bought.
What you'll find
Whether you're after a little something to take home or a showpiece for your living room, you'll find it here. Here's just a small sampling of the talent on display:
Rocks with Personality by Carlos Moseley. This Fredericksburg artist builds playful scenes from stone on slate: a red rooster called "King of the Roost," Oktoberfest party guys and girls, and a panoramic "Fredericksburg" with the Vereins Kirche and log cabins.
Yvonne Roe. Her flowing abstract paintings of blooms and swirling color, in soft blues, purples and creams, fill a bright, airy booth. Stop in and say hello.
Mesquite crosses. Hand-cut mesquite crosses, some with turquoise inlay and others scroll-cut with roses and doves.
Hill Country oil paintings. Guy Morrow's framed landscapes show longhorns, bluebonnets, quail in prickly pear, windmills and live oaks. Pure Texas.
Fused glass. Bright glass panels like a birch grove in fall gold and orange.
Gourd art. Carved, painted and pine-needle-woven gourds from Hallettsville, Texas, with Southwestern patterns.
Game-day ornaments. Hand-painted 2026 Christmas ornaments for the Aggies, Longhorns, Red Raiders, TCU, LSU, Astros and more. An easy early gift.
Pottery. Mugs, acorn jars, hanging planters, little ghosts and planters with legs.
Sterling jewelry. Rings, pendants and earrings in silver, many with turquoise and other stones.
More paintings. Sweet pet portraits and sunny Mediterranean village scenes.
Bring a tote. You will probably need it.
